My Values In Work

December 21, 2024•6 min read

👋 Hey there!

If you're reading this you're most likely family, a friend, or acquaintance wanting to learn more about my values. Thanks for your interest in learning about my values and for taking the time to visit my site today.

My intention with this post is to share the values i believe in and strive to incorporate into my work, and by work I'm referring to the efforts i make to add value to myself and others.

Although i'd like to say im fully rooted in these values, i've found it takes daily effort and intention to move forward with these values in mind, I assume they will always be a work in progress.

My hope is that you will feel or recognize these values, whether we are working on a business project together, building a friendship, or share a 5 minute conversation.

(In another post i will share my values in life)

My Values In Work

Open and Authentic Collaboration

Everyone has different approaches to their goals, objectives and other priorities, I know how important this is, and I understand that learning how to work together is an important part of the process.

I would argue that learning how to efficiently and effectively work together is as important as completing objectives for our desired result.

With my professional work, i'm generally working on a project by myself that integrates with my client's already built out systems, so it's critical I know how their systems are currently working.

I strive for and value when there is open and authentic collaboration. I want to understand your vision, to know what you're thinking about my work on the project, and where applicable, I want to hear your ideas on how we can make it better.

I value when someone is honest about where they're at with me, themselves, and the work we do together.

Patient Awareness & Adjustment

In most cases, valuable, high-quality work takes time. I strive to be patient with myself, the work, others, and the results.

I understand life does not provide a yellow brick road to desired outcomes, whether working toward personal or professional objectives, our conditioned patterns of thinking and acting are a part of the equation.

I value when others are able to acknowledge that great work can take time, and are patient with adjustments that will need to be made.

When it comes to work or personal development, I believe it's important to be patient and aware of elements that impact the work, and patient through adjustments that might be needed.

Consistent Dedication

I believe the most important element of growth is simply showing up, day after day with intentional actions. (easier said than done I know🙄)

Alongside the success, failure, and unforeseen circumstances, I believe the best thing one can do, is to show up. (Preferably with a plan that helps you optimize your growth, but showing up and failing is better than not showing up at all)

I value people who show up and are dedicated to their vision. I strive to show up everyday for myself and the work i've said i'll do. I have difficult days that make it hard to stay focused, I've fallen short of my goals time and time again, but I am dedicated to my vision and my growth, so i will always make efforts to show up, one day at time.

Systemic Organization

For a long time I was a disorganzied mess, only certain parts of my life had a time and place, the rest was up to fate.

Once i started my business i realized just how important and transformative organization can be. When projects, systems, and priorities are organized, it creates a starting point and a foundation for all future work.

I value organization in work and development because it allows me to easily find and update resources, goals, and other objectives.

Purposeful Planning

My value of planning has been similar to my value of organization; I didn't really know how much i needed it, until it felt like a requirement for steady progression.... or simply not falling apart. lol

To me, a plan is like miracle grow for a plant, you want more than just soil, you want nourishment to help the plant thrive.

I value creating a plan with a specific goal, mapped out with critical action steps, a timeline, and important resources.

I use plans like a compass, it simply points toward a desired outcome. There may be many pathways to get there, but you must have an idea that you're heading in the right direction.

Growth Mindset

I strive to live my life with a growth mindset, I believe we are expansive beings and have the capability to grow and expand our knowledge, skills, perspectives, ideas, relationships, health and every other area of life.

I believe all systems, products and services can be improved, either in the overall value they provide to solve a problem, or in the experience created by them.

I strongly believe that if one person can do it, so can i, as long as it doesn't defy the laws of physics.

I view each day, each moment as a gift. Tomorrow isn't promised and never will be, knowing this, I strive to make actions/plans as if i'll live a long life, while living out my days as if I might not make it to tomorrow. (I know i'm getting in the weeds here a bit but I promise it'll come together.)

I've found great peace in allowing myself the freedom to be new each and every day. Here's what i mean by that: I know i have conscious and subconscious patterns/habits that run my life, and i know if I don't make efforts to live an intentional life i'll end up wherever my circumstances and patterns lead me.

I also know that I have the power to influence my patterns, and I'm not attached to the person I was 10 years ago, 5 years ago or even yesterday. I am who i choose to be, and no one gets to decide that but me.

Final Thoughts

One of my favorite quotes says this - "The best project you will ever work on is you"
(I have it on my desk and see it every day)

I view my life as an ongoing project, and live almost like my life is a video game; I popped out of my mothers womb into a chaotic world full of circumstances I have no power to change. I get to build my character based on my conditioning, thoughts, desires, passions, and intuition.

I strive to live a peaceful, intentional, loving life, focused on what i can control and accepting of what i cant. I know there's a lot of terrible things in life that i cant change, I also know there are a lot of things in my life I have the power to influence for the better.

My intention and hope for my life is that i can create the life i dream while having a positive impact on my loved ones and others I cross paths with.

Thanks again for taking the time to learn about my values!

Wishing you well ✨

From your friend, Marshall 🤟
